A 20lb. gobbler called in by Jim Shelley at Paradise Valley Farm Hunt Club in Ehrhardt SC. According to Jim's guide Jerome, Jim called this turkey all the way from North Georgia. Jim used several of his calls to get this gobbler to come in. The last 200 yards, Jim used his Persimmon Hill Glass Call and his 2-reed high and mighty mouth call.
A big 23 lb.Eastern called in by my friend Jim Z. using a Persimmon Hill Slate Call. Jim called in this 23 lb. gobbler along with two of his buddies. According to Jim, they came running in like a house afire!
McCray Sawyers missed the Hokies spring game; doesn't miss his gobbler. McCray Sawyers, age 8, killed his first turkey on April 23 in Patrick County. The bird weighed 18.6 pounds, had a 10-inch beard, and 3/4 inch spurs.
McCray's grandparents, Ed and Sandra Jonens, bought McCray a Persimmon Hill Calls push button clucker before the season started. Looks like it worked pretty well. Ed and Sandra reside in Elgin SC and are good friends with Jim Shelley, President and owner of Persimmon Hill Calls allso of Elgin SC. Great job McCray!!!!
